I Didn't Accept Any Gifts
"Is this how you used to be a role model?"
In the office, the principal angrily smashed the files on the desk onto Josephine's head.
He was really angry and couldn't hold it anymore!
Josephine quickly said, "Principal, those few parents were just being kind. Parents often invite me to have a meal for the sake of their children, but I have never agreed to it..."
The principal sneered, "No? Just now you nodded, I saw it with my own eyes, and you still say no?"
Josephine: "I just nodded politely..."
Bang!
The principal smashed his phone on the desk.
He was so angry that his chest heaved, and for a moment, he was so angry that he couldn't speak.
The principal's office was very quiet, with only the sound of the printer going clickety-clack.
Josephine glanced at the printer subconsciously, but the printer was inside the office and she didn't know what it was printing. She just felt uneasy and annoyed hearing that sound.
In the midst of silence, the principal, who had taken a few sips of tea, finally regained his voice and said,
"What happened today? The first grade class (1) had a fight."
Josephine thought to herself, sure enough, because of this matter, it has escalated to the principal's office. It must have been reported by Susie's parents!
She was already upset when it reached the academic affairs office, but she didn't expect it to escalate to the principal's office. Can't they be a little more considerate?
"Well, there was this boy named Pablo in our class who played a prank on the new girl Susie, giving her a nickname. I didn't have a chance to intervene... and as a result, Susie brought her brother and sister over to fight."
Josephine sighed as she spoke, "It's true that it's not right for others to give her a nickname, but forming cliques and fighting is definitely worse!"
"So I made Susie and her brothers and sisters go stand in the corner..."
The principal stared at her and asked, "Is it really true?"
Josephine felt a sudden panic in her heart and thought to herself, "Did I also not tell a lie?"
"It is indeed true, without a doubt!" she said.
The principal was really upset: "Did Susie bring her brother and sister?"
Josephine opened her mouth and coughed, "Um... I did express it wrongly. It was her brother and sister who happened to see her after class..."
"Why did they hit people?" the principal asked again.
The Josephine quickly replied, "Just because someone made a joke and called her a nickname..."
The principal wanted to smash things again, but everything that could be smashed on the table had already been smashed. The cup was made of ceramic and needed to be smashed to pieces.
He could only slap the table hard and angrily said, "You never mention the fact that Susie repeatedly told Pablo not to give her nicknames! You are so biased, have you received money from Pablo's family?!"
Josephine's heart sank: "No, absolutely not!"
"It's just because taking nicknames is just a trivial matter, insignificant, you know, it's very common and normal for children to give others nicknames!"
"Isn't forming gangs and fighting each other the most despicable thing?"
Of course, there were also many students who melodramatically claimed that having a nickname was not good and hurt their feelings.
To ask her to tell the truth, it's just a child's way of making up words to express their worries!
Why bother caring about what others say? Just ignore it!
What else is there that hurts the soul? When they didn't do well on the exam, why don't they talk about hurting the soul? Why don't they know how to make an effort?
No matter what the principal said, Josephine always had a way of justifying herself.
She absolutely denied receiving any gifts or money. As a teacher, she certainly knew that accepting bribes was not allowed. If she admitted it, she would be in big trouble!
The principal suppressed his anger and took a sip of water before saying, "Someone has reported that you have been accepting money and gifts from parents. How do you respond to this?"
Josephine quickly said, "It's not true! I really just think that fighting is more serious than giving someone a nickname, which is why Susie and the others were made to stand in the corner instead of Pablo. Maybe that's why Susie's parents think I took a bribe... but I swear, this absolutely didn't happen."
The principal sneered, "Oh? Then make a vow and let's see."
He really wanted to laugh out loud, his family members wanted to see what outrageous lies Josephine could still come up with.
Josephine raised her hand, speaking confidently with strong words and a face full of misunderstood indignation.
"I swear, I have never received gifts or money from parents of students, nor have I accepted invitations for meals from them... If what I say is false, then let me be hit by a car when I step out! Bitten by a dog while walking! Covered in sores on my head and pus flowing from my feet, may the heavens strike me with thunder!"
Principal: "..."
He took out the evidence of her accepting bribes with a backhand.
"The swearing was quite impressive, no wonder you teach literature." The principal sneered, "Take a look, this is the evidence of you accepting money from ten parents at the beginning of the school year."
"This is the evidence of you receiving an expensive gift from Pablo's parents. This is the evidence of you having dinner with several other parents."
The principal threw the freshly printed photos and documents from the printer onto Josephine's face.
