The Appearance of the Groom
Susie lifted the paper person, which made a crackling sound as she did so. Perhaps it had been left for too long, as it crumbled immediately.
Wade swallowed and said, "Strange, this is a real paper person, right?"
He cautiously approached Susie, hiding behind her and also reaching out to grab the paper person's arm.
It was very rough paper, and very brittle, breaking at the slightest touch. It was clear that it had been left there for a long time.
"I can touch it... this is really a paper person. Is it a prop in the haunted house?"
Wade looked at the rule card again, but there was no mention of the paper person.
It should be a prop in the haunted house...
"Let's go," Susie suddenly said.
Lucy was eager to leave and was the first to agree. The group returned to the front door of the courtyard.
"We still need to go back to the new room to take a look," Wade said worriedly.
Susie nodded in agreement.
Before stepping out of the courtyard, Susie suddenly turned her head and took another look at the room where the paper people were piled up.
Once again, the group returned to the new room, this time with a female ghost in tow.
All of this was magical and dreamlike. Even the usually calm and composed Uncle Jenkins was becoming more and more agitated.
Everyone searched the new room, and Susie asked, "Big Sister Bride, why are there paper people in your backyard?"
Wade perked up his ears.
The female ghost was stunned for a moment and said, "I don't know..."
Wade breathed a sigh of relief.
If the female ghost didn't know about the paper people, it meant that it wasn't with her when she came. It could be a prop in the haunted house.
Since it was a prop in the haunted house, there was nothing to be afraid of - after all, the haunted house was still a tangible thing, whereas the female ghost in front of them was a real one.
Wade muttered to himself, "The haunted house's props are really realistic. The paper person had been left for so long that it crumbled at the slightest touch. How did they manage that?"
Moreover, if it crumbled so easily, the loss would be too great. Every tourist who came to the haunted house would touch it, and they would have to restock it every day.
"We found it," Hamza suddenly said.
Susie, Wade, and Lucy rushed over, while Uncle Jenkins maintained his composure and followed closely behind.
"It's a pile of burned ashes," Wade crouched down and picked up a piece, twisting it doubtfully. "Burnt paper?"
If the scene description was correct, when the officials opened the door, they only saw a floor covered in broken limbs and hanging brides. It's unlikely that the perpetrator burned paper on the scene.
Lucy held his head and cried out, "Ah... it's getting more and more confusing, what's going on!"
"Keep searching," said Hamza.
Soon, everyone found a candle that had fallen to the ground, a red string hanging on the window, and a strange bone.
"What is this?" Wade asked in confusion.
Paul took a glance and said, "It looks like a chicken claw bone..."
Susie asked, "Sister-in-law, did you eat chicken claws during the wedding ceremony?"
The female ghost shook her head.
Everyone looked at the clues on the ground, perplexed.
A red string, chicken claw bones, and a pile of ashes.
Lucy cried, "Let's just stop playing and go back! Susie, can I borrow your hammer? We can break down the wall and just run out."
"Good idea," said Paul.
But Susie shook her head and said, "No, we can't leave! We must find out who the groom is."
"Right!" said Wade.
It seemed like this was a big project and the KPI couldn't be compromised.
"Don't worry, with Susie here, everything will be fine..." Wade seemed unsure and looked at Susie, "Right?"
Susie nodded confidently, "Uh-huh!"
She was confident that she could protect everyone, but they might still experience some scares...
The fickle ghost racked his brain, "I can't figure it out. We just looked around, but we couldn't find any cute little ghosts hiding."
The unlucky ghost said, "Yeah, we're done searching. There really isn't any ghost."
Susie looked up with an innocent smile, "Uncle Jenkins, we need your help."
Paul was the only adult there, so he should help.
"What kind of help?" asked Paul.
Susie said, "Can you act as the groom?"
Paul froze.
Susie thought for a moment and said, "This should be a ritual. Once the ritual is complete, both the groom and the bride will be sacrificed. At this point, we need to restore the ritual."
She counted on her fingers and said, "Don't worry, Uncle Jenkins, we won't be married to the female ghost!"
Paul felt a little relieved.
Then Susie said, "We'll just go straight to the bridal chamber with the female ghost!"
Paul... stared at the female ghost, feeling like he was being led around like a balloon.
Hamza's eyes flickered slightly, his tone calm. "Uncle Jenkins, are you afraid?"
Wade immediately supported him, "Nonsense! Uncle Jenkins is a pilot! He's flown all over the world, how could he be afraid?"
Lucy unintentionally delivered a fatal blow, "Isn't it normal to be afraid? Uncle Jenkins isn't Superman, there's no shame in admitting it."
Paul's mouth twitched. These... were just things that made fun of him!
It was impossible to have a bridal chamber, even if they made him jump from the flying plane...
"Susie, Uncle Jenkins~~~ please!"
Paul sighed and said, "Okay."
"Let's go~~~" Susie jumped up excitedly, "We're going into the bridal chamber!"
It was as if it were really a happy occasion.
Paul was at a loss, and when he regained his senses, he was already holding the red string with a female ghost hanging on it, standing in the middle of the room.
The female ghost blushed, "Husband..."
The few children hiding under the bed,
Susie held her hands together and whispered, "Uncle Jenkins, remember to blow out the candles!"
Wade said, "Uncle Jenkins, go for it! You can do it!"
Da Tou Han said, "Uncle Jenkins is mighty! Go for it, Uncle Jenkins!"
Hamza thought to himself, why did he end up hiding under the bed too???
The red candles flickered in the room.
Since they came in, the scene had been dimmed, with all the lighting coming from candles and lanterns...
There were red lanterns hanging outside in the courtyard, as well as lamps for lighting, while inside the house, there were oil lamps and candles lit.
Paul forced himself not to look at the female ghost and looked around -
There was an oil lamp on the table, and a pair of red candles on the desk. How could he blow out one candle and extinguish three fires?
Susie held her hands together and said, "Uncle Jenkins, just smash it!"
Paul gritted his teeth and picked up the candle on the desk, and smashed it hard on the ground!
All the candles in the room were extinguished instantly.
Suddenly, it was dark and Paul's eyes couldn't adapt. He felt suddenly cold all over.
Then a scream came from behind him, a man's voice, and something quickly stuck to him!
Then the bride's scream came.
Paul couldn't hold back anymore. He pounced towards the bed like a gentleman, "Susie!"
"I'm here!"
"Hey, little flame!"
Susie threw out a fireball, and with a whoosh, the room was lit up with green flames.
There was a paper person sticking to Paul's back!
In the light, the paper person's face was pale, and its eyes were round, but it was wearing a bright red wedding gown, staring at them...
