Huck Returns

"Happy New Year!!"

The Murray's Manor restaurant, the lively sound filled the air as everyone raised their glasses for a toast.

Even Jamie held a milk bottle and raised it high, shouting, "Ya ya ya ya!"

Kellen almost choked on his drink as he quickly took out his phone and snapped a few pictures of Jamie, who was excitedly holding a bottle and eagerly drinking from it.

Jamie seemed to notice something and immediately turned his head to look.

Kellen's phone shook, with an inexplicable smile on his face. "Come on, let's take a family photo together."

The restaurant was divided into two tables. One large table was occupied by the Murray family, consisting of more than ten people. The other table was occupied by the ghosts from Soul Calabash. Outside, the cats, dogs, and chattering parrots sat together at another table.

The screen was too small for the phone to capture.

Jamie stared at Kellen, waiting to see what he would say.

Who knew that the next second a drone flew steadily into the air? Kellen pointed at the drone and said, "Come, look at the camera."

Jamie: "..."

Click.

The photos were sent to Kellen's phone. The drone took seven or eight pictures, and one of them was of the entire team online.

Taylor and the cute ghost squeezed next to Susie, while the fickle ghost and the coward ghost floated on the side. Mitch took the first step and found a spot, floating behind Susie.

There were many people in this photo, including the infatuated ghost, the money ghost, the crying ghost, and so on.

Kellen saved this photo separately and chose the best one taken, which was a family portrait of the Murray family with Ada and Colt together. He posted it in the family group.

The restaurant quieted down for a moment, and everyone was looking at their phone photos.

Alana also took out her phone and saw a family photo, all neat and tidy.

Unfortunately, Clara did not appear in the photo, and Huck did not come back.

Clara leaned over and comforted, "Mom, I cannot leave any traces of my existence in this world, you know..."

Alana interrupted her, "It's okay, as long as mom can see you, that's already good enough."

She knew that some things should be satisfied if one could have them, and it was not advisable to ask for too much.

"Let's eat, let's eat!" Everyone became lively and excited again.

"Unfortunately, Huck didn't come back," Michael said. "We only missed him!"

Ryan whispered, "A while ago, Huck told me about an urgent task."

Alana sighed, "Things have been chaotic overseas lately. I hope he can stay safe..."

Michael laughed cheerfully and said, "Mom, you can rest assured! Don't forget that Huck has the amulet for safety and good luck given by Susie, as well as the bracelet and necklace. Nothing can harm him."

Cats have nine lives, but Huck has more things than the cat's lives combined.

Craig said, "Exactly, it's the New Year, don't overthink it."

Martin said, "Don't worry, everything is fine. I received a message saying that he will be back after the Chinese New Year."

Paul said, "Let's eat, let's eat!"

Susie remained silent and looked outside.

She suddenly said, "Uncle Huck... is coming back soon."

Everyone was stunned, Susie said if she said she was coming back, then she was coming back!

Alana couldn't hide her excitement and immediately ordered, "Ada, quickly get a set of bowls and chopsticks."

Ada stood up and said, "Alright! I'll go right away!"

She couldn't hide the joy on her face. This time, it's great! Finally, we are all reunited!

Everyone also put down their chopsticks and chatted and laughed while waiting for Huck to come back.

Michael even made a bet with a few other brothers, saying, "I bet Huck will be home in five minutes!"

Jonathan said, "How is that possible? Five minutes, then he should be at the front gate now."

It used to take five minutes to get to the entrance, but now there is no sign of any activity at the entrance.

Jonathan said, "So, it should have been ten minutes."

Judah sneered, "Any extra minute is just a doubt on Susie's ability! I bet on 7 minutes."

Paul smiled faintly and shook his head, "Six minutes."

Jinny suddenly said, "Three minutes."

Even Wade had to object this time, laughing and saying, "Mom, you're just guessing randomly! It's been three minutes, and Uncle Huck should be hiding outside the door by now! It definitely won't be three minutes, if it is, I'll twist my head..."

Susie stood up and quickly ran out, saying, "I'm going to pick up Uncle Huck!"

Wade said in a disappointed tone, "If that's the case, I would rather part my hair in the middle..."

*

The snowstorm on New Year's Eve was even bigger than two days ago. The howling wind sounded like an owl hovering in the night sky, staring at every solitary pedestrian.

Huck hurriedly walked, holding a small bag in his hand. This was his only luggage.

"I hope I can make it to the New Year's Eve dinner..." Huck muttered to himself. "Ah, even though it was painful back then, now I miss the meals my mom used to cook."

In the vast snowy night, there was only one lonely pedestrian. Huck looked towards the distant warm lights, and the Murray's manor was right in front of him.

He seemed to smell the aroma of the food and hear the laughter of his family.

"Unfortunately, he returned in such a hurry that he couldn't bring any gifts for Susie..." Huck was very regretful. In order to get back home, he crossed mountains and rivers, and traveled thousands of miles.

It was quite embarrassing.

Finally, Huck arrived at the grand entrance of the Murray's manor. He quietly entered through the gate and, peering through the window adorned with paper cutouts, he could see the figures of people inside, mingling and laughing.

Huck wore a contented smile, quickly setting down the luggage he was carrying and starting to tidy up his clothes and hat.

His military uniform was too messy, and he hadn't had time to tidy it up properly. He couldn't let his parents see it like this.

He lowered his head and busily scrambled to tidy up, from head to toe...
